Umpiring
Umpire's Convener Ann Dufty 0439319022
URGENT REQUEST: We are running short of netta umpires. This is where it all starts - these young up and coming young players need you!
It is unfair that the same 3 or 4 cover nettas each week, it would be good if I could have a pool of 10 + to draw on.
Please email the umpires convener umpire@terrigalwamberalnetball.net this week if you can help with this. Game commences at 8.45am
9yrs - now play full rules so there is no difference in umpiring a normal game.
IF YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE THIS AGO AS A NEW MUM TO NETBALL - WE CAN OFFER TRAINING!
YOU NEED TO HAVE A CURRENT THEORY PASS - SO IF YOU HAVE DONE IT, PLEASE DO IT’S ONLINE. Let Ann Dufty know your pass mark, bring printed certificate on Saturday morning.
REQUEST FROM GNA UMPIRES' CONVENER TO ALL UMPIRES: Please make yourself familiar with the rule book regarding the following:
1. No jewellery shall be worn with the exception of a medical alert bracelet and a flat wedding band which must be taped.
2. Nails are to be short and smooth. If players have approval to play with gloves their nails but be short and smooth underneath the glove.
Under NO EXCEPTION should any player take the Court with jewellery except for the above specified. If you are unsure or need help come and see one of the committee.
These rules are there for the safety of the players and also you. You have a duty of care to enforce all the rules.
Any problems come and see Bec Dummett, GNA Umpires Convenor
There is another Junior Quiz on Saturday 19th May starting at 10am at Adcock Park any girls turning 13 wanting to learn to umpire they need to attend this day first.
You also need to do their theory exam online.
Register at becdummett@hotmail.com make sure you let Bec know their name and what club you are from.

All IJ, Cadet and senior teams require up to four nominated umpires in each team who have a current theory pass.
- Players registering as a team must have at least one person nominated as umpire for that team for the team’s registration to be processed.
- Individuals registering and being graded into a team will have to negotiate with other team members who will undertake umpiring duties and how often.
- Teams who fail to nominate an umpire from within the team but provide an umpire either from another team, club member or any other person, must have their nomination approved by the umpire’s convener first.
- Teams who, for any reason, fail to provide an umpire will incur a team fine of $200 paid to Gosford Netball Association on each occasion and cannot take further part in the competition before the fine is paid by the team (not the club)

Information for Terrigal Wamberal Netball Club Umpires and Coaches
The club umpires’ convener has responsibility for assigning appropriately qualified umpires to the games allocated by the Gosford Netball Umpires’ Committee each week. Before allocating any umpire to a game these considerations need to be taken into account:
- Umpires’ qualifications
- The time an umpire plays her own game (we try to allocate a game before or after that time slot)
- The time an umpire coaches a team (if applicable)
- Whether an umpire has daughters to watch
- Whether an umpire needs a club trainer or wants to be coached to improve qualifications and whether a trainer is available
- Whether an umpire also has a representative game to play in addition to a club game
- Whether an appropriate level of game has been allocated at the timeslots the umpire is available
- How many umpires are available in each team and how often they umpire
Our club has 29 teams in 2008 and, like many other clubs, a dwindling number of umpires and people prepared to take on the responsibility. We rely on senior players and junior players older than 13 to provide umpires for the many netta and junior (10 – 12 year old) teams that our club has in addition to IJs and seniors. Each senior team is expected to provide the names of up to four players who can be placed on the umpires’ list.
In order to be able to continue to provide suitably qualified umpires and fulfil our obligations we need your support in assisting the umpires’ convener.
In 2009 the tentative umpires’ allocation for the following week will be posted on the club’s website under Umpiring by Monday night or Tuesday afternoon at the latest. (GNA provides the allocation the previous week.) The final roster gets emailed to the GNA convener on Friday morning.
Umpires and coaches (or team contacts) should check the website before training. If there is a problem, only the coach, manager or team contact of the IJ or senior team should email umpire@terrigalwamberalnetball.net by the Thursday night at the latest with the following information. (Umpires who are not players are the exception and should email the convener as soon as possible.)
In the case of allocations to senior games, please provide the name of the umpire who will replace that person on the allocation. If the named umpire cannot umpire on Saturday then the team who fails to supply the umpire incurs a fine from GNA and cannot take part in further competition until the fine is paid.
In the case of allocations to junior games, please provide details of other timeslots that the umpire may be available or the names of other umpires who are available.
Emails to the umpires’ convener and text and voice messages sent to the club mobile phone on Saturdays cannot be accessed or acted upon. In the event of illness or misadventure on Saturday please phone GNA on 4324 2002 and advise the GNA umpires’ committee. Please note that neither our club nor GNA has reserve umpires to replace umpires who do not turn up for their allocated game.
Please email the club’s umpires’ convener on umpire@terrigalwamberalnetball.net with any questions regarding the allocation of umpires or contact the club secretary on the club mobile phone who will forward your enquiries.
